Whitney Davis-Simmons, LLMSW (she/her)
As a therapist my goal is to create a judgement free space that allows individuals young and old to feel heard. I am focused on understanding your life story, values, goals and expectations. This starting point, allows you and I to work together to determine what you may be looking to gain awareness of or overcome, whether that is grief, anxiety, stress, depression or feeling lost, we will discover it together. I strive to utilize your personal experiences, along with my expertise to help you identify and establish new meanings for these challenging situations. As well as provide you with the appropriate tools to tackle life’s obstacles as they come.
In 2021, I earned my Master in Social Work Degree from Western Michigan University. I have experience working with children, teens and adults. With this diverse background, I have gained an understanding that a strong therapeutic relationship is important and that you as the client, know yourself and your story better than anyone else. That is why I use a client centered approach, along with incorporating therapeutic interventions that are evidence based into our sessions. Those interventions may be, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). Not matter what path we take, in the end my only hope is that you are able to look back and see your growth, however big or small that may be and know that you were the one who took the initiative to make it happen!
